To the Grand Ledge Band Family,
This past month has been a whirlwind of excitement and activity and today marks the end of the first week of school! I have always admired this program’s long history of success, and am very excited to have the privilege of working with so many of you on a daily basis. I have great confidence that we will continue the same level of excellence and continue to grow. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your community with open arms. The students have been a pleasure to work with and get to know, and I appreciate all your hard work and dedication to this program. Thank you to all the parents that have done so much work behind the scenes to ensure a successful week at band camp and a smooth transition into the beginning of the school year. Thank you to the administration and the members of the community for your support of music education in Grand Ledge. I look forward to a great school year full of fond memories and beautiful music, and I am proud to be a Comet! Sincerely, Risa Hsu Dear Grand Ledge High School Band Parents and Students,
I am writing to you tonight to announce that I will not be returning next year as the Grand Ledge High School Band Director, and that I recently accepted the head director position at Winter Park High School, outside of Orlando, Florida. I will tell you that this decision was filled with many mixed emotions, and I will miss you all greatly! I do want to assure everyone that the district will work very hard and very quickly to find my replacement, and that I will assist them in any way possible to make this a smooth transition. I would like to thank everyone for making these past five years some of the most rewarding years of my teaching career, and I know that the Grand Ledge Bands will continue to do great things on into the future! Thank you, and all the best. Chris Blackmer |
